ABOUT ME

So you decided to do a background check on me, huh? Probably a smart idea…

My name is Drew, I’m a hunter and outdoorsman from Fairfield County, Connecticut. I do quite a bit of traveling all across New England – Vermont, New York, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. I regularly hunt in New York and in Vermont in addition to CT, and enjoy camping, fishing and hiking when ever I get the opportunity. I’m fortunate enough to have family near Killington, VT so after all the ducks have all flown south you’re likely to find me skiing (and drinking at the lodge).

I am by no means an expert, or professional hunter – I am a true DIY hunter, learning as I go from people like you in the outdoor community. In fact a lot of what I post on this blog involves trying things for the first time, or in different ways, and sharing my results so that others in the community can benefit.

For someone shamelessly writing about themself on the internet, I am paradoxically camera shy – Here are a couple rare glimpses of me inFRONT of the camera:

I am a contributing field editor for Huntography in the state of Connecticut. What is Huntography?

Filming America’s Hunters. One at a Time.
Huntography is a grassroots hunting movement. We film, blog & socialize the authentic stories & experiences of America’s hunters. Through first person storytelling & documentary filmmaking, we are showing what really happens in the outdoors. It’s a type of reality journalism that has been missing from outdoor television, videos and blogs.

We use social media & mobile technology to help like-minded hunters better connect with each other across the country in real time, from online to offline.RUDY

  1. A finance job with your nature? Yes, you need an escape plan before you die inside. But not everyone realises when they have actually started and go on think the same old.

I’ll be bold and say you are on your way. Your escape plan is cooking. But don’t surprised if it doesn’t eventuate as you want.

Don’t you know, god (or whatever) laughs when men announce their plans. :)

I like that one, for now

    All the best mate. M

PS I don’t know what your hunting practise is but as long as you respect it and eat it I’d hunt with you, if there was the need.

    • Thanks Mark – You never know, right? Maybe as I make more time for the things I enjoy, they’ll help me out in return! I’ve found a pretty great network of like minded people on Twitter, and through Huntography… Maybe one day I’ll be having fun for a living! Just to let you know, my hunting philosophy is if you don’t intend to eat it you shouldn’t be hunting with anything but a camera. I’m now 100% sugar free, and carb free… and eventually I’d like to peruse a paleolithic style diet, and try to consume mostly foods that I have harvested myself. We had a great garden going last year, and ended up with about 80lbs of venison – that’s not a bad start!

  2. What, the deer/stag ate your garden and you ate it in turn? :)

I’ll tell you what I do know. To what, or how you give your attention makes all the difference to the outcome. Peace of mind does not come easy in a world bent on emotional excitation that can only lead to insanity.

But the paradox is we, the ones who matter, are getting more sane in spite of worldly appearances. By the little things we do and don’t do.

Sounds like a nice place you are there, where you can grow your food and hunt when necessary.
